Bishop Feehan High School
About Feehan

Principal's Welcome

Bill Runey

Welcome to Bishop Feehan High School. Catholicity lived through “Sanctity” has always been the cornerstone of a Feehan education. In 1961, the Diocese of Fall River promoted the creation of a Catholic high school for the youth of the Attleboro area. A school that now serves nearly 40 cities and towns in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The “Feehan Way” encourages students to emulate the ideals of the Sisters of Mercy who have walked the halls since it opened. Students openly talk about prayer and understand the importance of hospitality and respect. Members of our school community strive to be “ministers of the Gospel in all they say and do.”

Four years of Theology classes are a graduation requirement for all Feehan students. Courses in scripture, morality, world religions, church history, social justice, adult living, and marriage complete the Theology curriculum. The basic tenets of the Catholic faith explained in theology class are frequently inserted into discussions in literature, history, current affairs, and biology.

Our Theology department strives to form individuals in the Catholic tradition and uphold respect for other faith traditions. Several members of our “Feehan Family” bear witness to the living faith of other religions.

The Theology curriculum is augmented by numerous co-curricular activities. All students, freshman through junior, are required to complete twenty hours of community service each year. Campus Ministry organizes retreats and service projects that benefit the needy in our area.

Bishop Feehan is a Catholic community where students make friends for life. It is not just an educational experience; it is truly a life experience.

When you enter our school, there is an atmosphere of caring which pervades the entire school. You see signs stating that “Christ is the Reason for this School.” The teachers and staff are dedicated. Many have had the opportunity to work in other school systems making much more money than Catholic schools can pay them. But they chose Catholic education because it is a privilege to teach students and work with families who value education and love the community spirit existing in the Catholic schools. Teachers are allowed to teach because students are there to learn.

Bishop Feehan takes great pride in being a part of the Catholic education tradition. Students graduate and are prepared for the rigors of college. We strive to treat each child respectfully and give them the best education available.

Feehan has a standing invitation to anyone wishing to see Catholic education in action. Please call, and we would love to give a tour of our building.

In Christ's Peace,

Bill Runey

About Mr. Runey

Bill Runey credits several great mentors for their wisdom, ideas, and conviction, but says, “I've never had better teachers than my parents. Whatever I have of my faith, ability to listen closely, to trust, and to see the best in others, I learned first and best from them.”

Bill's formal education began in the parochial schools of Charleston, SC. He earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education from Clemson (SC) University. Bill began teaching at his alma mater, Bishop England High School, where he taught math and coached three sports. He went on to complete a Master's Degree program in Educational Administration at The Citadel's Graduate School of Education. In 1997, he became Vice Principal at Bishop England and continued to coach basketball. Currently, he is enrolled in an Educational Doctorate program at Boston's Northeastern University.

Bill has three children, Mary Katherine, Feehan Class of 2012, Kimberly, Class of  2015, and William, Class of 2021.

“My philosophy of education is one of high expectations,” says Bill. Grounded in a profound respect for Feehan's history, mission, and values, he speaks tremendous of potential for this community.
