Health and Fitness Department
Health and Fitness is required for graduation and is offered to students in Grade 10. This program focuses on teaching students to assume responsibility for their own personal health and lifestyle by developing the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve a higher level of well-being throughout their lifetime.
The Health component of the course encompasses adolescent health issues such as: addiction, body dysmorphia, eating disorders, conflict resolution, drug use, infectious disease, nutrition, stress, and wellness. Students will also learn adult CPR.
The Fitness component of the course encompasses basic skills, strategies, and rules of lifetime sports and activities such as: badminton, flag football, frisbee, golf, tennis, volleyball, and weight training. Students will be able to identify and assess components of physical fitness, and develop a personal fitness program for various stages of their lives.
