Scholarship Opportunities
South Walpole Community Preschool Kay Williams Memorial Scholarship: Any graduating senior who attended South Walpole Community Preschool for at least one year is eligible. Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in education or child related services. Applications are in guidance and have a deadline of March 23, 2012.
The W. Duane Lockard Scholarship Fund: Scholarship is to assist minority high school students in obtaining an associate or baccalaureate degree or certificate of training. Applications are in guidance and have the deadline of March 29, 2012.
Helen and Blanche Stark Memorial Scholarship Fund: Applicant must be interested in the field of nursing, a resident of Foxboro and accepted or enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Applications are in guidance and have an April 2, 2012 deadline.
Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women: All graduating seniors applying for enrollment to a four year accredited college or university and living in or attending high school in Bristol County are eligible. Applications are in guidance and have a deadline of March 31, 2012.
Walpole Scholarship Foundation: Applicant must be a resident of Walpole. Applications are online at www.walpolescholarshipfoundation.org and have a February 25, 2012 deadline.
Attleboro Scholarship Foundation: Interest free loans for college students of Attleboro. The loans are offered in the amount of $1,000.00 each and the student may re-apply for a total of four years. Applicant must be a full time undergraduate student, a resident of Attleboro for 12 months prior to application date and have financial need as determined by the CSS profile. Applications are in guidance have a March 1, 2012 deadline.
Attleboro Fire Fighters Scholarship: Applications are in guidance and have an April 1, 2012 deadline.
Curtis Stanley Gallup Scholarship: Applicant must attend Attleboro or Bishop Feehan High School. Preference will be given to a student who has experienced extenuating circumstances and overcome insurmountable odds to succeed. Financial need will be considered. Applications are in guidance and have an April 1, 2012 deadline.
Leslie Lee Langille Memorial Scholarship: Applicant must live in Attleboro or North Attleboro. Preference will be given to a student who will continue their education in a field working with children. Financial need will be considered. Applications are in guidance and have an April 1, 2012 deadline.
Attleboro Scholarship Foundation Rotary Scholar: Award is $500 per year for four years. This is given in recognition of service by Attleboro residents. Service to others of any type will be considered including community service, service to others in school, service to others in the country and international service. Financial need is not a consideration. Applications are in guidance and have an April 1, 2012 deadline.
Buick Achievers Scholarship Program: Scholarships up to $100,000.00 available. Community minded students who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry are eligible. Applications are available at www.buickachievers.com. Application deadine is February 29, 2012.
Rockland Trust Scholarship: Rockland Trust will award five $2,500.00 scholarships to students who reside in Plymouth, Barnstable or Plymouth county. Students should apply using the Rockland Trust Scholarship application which is available at all branch locations beginning January 23, 2012. Applicant must fall in the top 50% of the graduating class. Applications postmarked by the deadline of March 16, 2012 only will be considered.
Hamilton Relay Scholarship: Applicant must be a graduating high school student who is deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or has difficulty speaking. Deadline for the application is March 30, 2012. Applications and guidelines are available at www.hamiltonrelay.com/corporate/whats_new.
Citizens Scholarship Foundation of East Providence: Graduating seniors who are residents of East Providence are eligible. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 16, 2012. Applications are available in guidance.
Sharon Credit Union: Five $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to one student in each of the communities that there is a branch office. Students applying for a scholarship must be either a member of the credit union themselves or the child of a member. Applications are available online at www.Sharoncu.com. Deadline to apply is May 1, 2012.
Best Buy Scholarship: Awarding 1,200 scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 each. Apply online at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com. Students need solid grades plus community service or work experience. Deadline is February 15, 2012.
Massachusetts Restaurant Association: The Massachusetts Restaurant Association in partnership with the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation will be offering scholarships up to $2,000.00 to students continuing their education in a culinary arts or restaurant/food service management program at the college level. Applications are available at www.marestaurantassoc.org. Deadline to apply is April 16, 2012.
2012 Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship: The program has been created to provide financial and career assistance to graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science. Shell will sponsor up to 20 one year awards of $2,500.00 for graduating high school seniors enrolling in engineering or geosciences at universities identified by Shell. Applications are available at the Shell's scholarship website http://goo.gl/HQSIY under the high school seniors tab. Deadline to apply is February 28, 2012.
Grand Lodge of Massachusettes Order Sons of Italy: A minimum of twenty-five scholarships at a maximum of $1,000.00 each will be awarded. Some of the scholarships are reservered for the children and grandchildren of the members but there are a number of scholarships available regardless of affiliation with the Order Sons of Italy. The application may be downloaded at www.osiama.org. The deadline is March 1, 2012.
Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias: Three $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded to students who best qualify based on their unselfish concern for or devotion to the welfare of others. Students must write a resume of their achievements with the reason why they feel they may be qualified to receive the award. Included with the resume, in the same envelope, must be two recommendations confirming their achievements. All interested students should send their letters to Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias, 458 Pearl Street, Stoughton, MA 02072, Attention: Humanitarian Award. Fall River Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses: All Catholic students and members of the Fall River Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses, their children or grandchildren in a nursing or health care program are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to members and their family. Applications are in guidance and have a March 1, 2012 deadline.
Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation: Any high school student in Massachusetts is eligible. The scholarship is not academically based but is awarded on the basis of need. The committee wil give more serious consideration to those students who have made efforts to make a difference in their communities and/or have shown leadership qualities within their school. Applications are in guidance and have a March 15, 2012 deadline.
Red Pine Scholarship: The scholarship is dedicated to making college affordable for Massachusetts families. Students must be from a low-to-middle income family who will have substantial unmet need to pay for college, have a strong academic record or have shown significant improvement over time and are planning to enroll as a freshman at a competitive four year college. The NAAAP Boston Scholarship: The National Association of Asian American Professionals is proud to present the Future Leader Award. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated leadership qualities in and out of the classroom. Applications are available online at www.naaapboston.org. The committee seeks to grant scholarships to applicants who are of Asian descent and/or applicants who have contributed to the Asian/ Asian-American community. Deadline is February 27, 2012.
GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program: The GE-Reagan Foundation annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship with $10,000.00 renewable scholarships. Yawkey Scholars Program: Scholarship program for graduating high school students entering private colleges in Massachusetts in 2012-13. This program is designed to make college affordable for talented, motivated, low income students from Massachusetts. Massachusetts AFL-CIO Scholarship: Students with union affiliation will be eligible for both the Mass AFL-CIO scholarships as well as the union scholarships offered by the union that the student is affiliated with. Students interested must sign up with guidance by December 19, 2011 to take the Labor History Exam. Go to www.massaflcio.org to download the scholarship brochure, study guide and application.
BK Scholars: Burger King Scholarships are available to high school seniors. The application period is November 15, 2011-January 10, 2012. Visit www.haveityourwayfoundation.org to apply.
Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship: Looking for high school seniors who participated in a varsity sport and who will be furthering their education by attending a two or four year accredited college, earned a cumulative 3.0 gpa or higher and performed volunteer work in the community. KFC Colonel's Scholars: To qualify a graduating senior must earn a minimum gpa of 2.75, enroll in a public college or university within their state of legal residence, plan to pursue a bachelor's degree, be a US citizen and demonstrate financial need online applications are at www.kfcscholars.org. Applications are being accepted online December 1, 2011 through February 8, 2012.
The Rhode Island Polonia Scholarship: Scholarship is open to students of Polish-American descent who are Rhode Island residents or who belong to a Rhode Island Polish-American organization. Scholarships are open to high school seniors. Criteria for awards include academic achievement, community service and financial need. Applications are available at www.polishscholarshipsri.org and have a February 5, 2012 deadline.
The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship: Renewable 4 year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic excellence, a commitment to serving others in school, the community or at home and a strong work ethic. Awards are limited to residents of New England and range from $3,000.00-$10,000.00. Visit www.phillips-scholarship.org. for details and application. Deadline to submit the application is May 1, 2012.
Cumberland Farms Believe and Achieve Scholarship: High school seniors living within 30 miles of a Cumberland Farms location and planning to attend a college next fall are eligible to receive a scholarship of $1,000.00.
