Policies and Factors
Entrance Exam
The standardized exam is given annually on a Saturday in early December. For 2007, the test will be given on December 1st at 7:45 am. The applicant’s score on this exam is a major factor in determining their acceptance to Bishop Feehan. The exam scores are also used for placement along with other elements of the application in all grade 9 classes. Applicants must pay a testing fee of $20 and bring #2 pencils. Calculators are not allowed.
Note: An applicant who takes the exam at another location must have his/her exam scores faxed to the Admissions office. An applicant will not be considered without entrance exam scores.
Application
The application will be distributed the day of the entrance exam. It must be returned to the Admissions office by December 13th no later than the close of business (3:30 p.m.). Applicants received after this date will not be considered until all other applicants have been reviewed. If you would like confirmation that your application has been received, please address and stamp the postcard that is included in your admissions packet and return with your completed application.
Official Transcript
The applicant must submit transcripts showing grades for a minimum of two preceding years. Forms must be taken to your present school to be completed by the person who handles grade reporting. The applicant’s present school should return these forms to Bishop Feehan as soon as possible but no later than the deadline specified. Applicants transferring from another high school must have a 3.0 grade point average.
Subject Forms
The applicant’s guidance counselor or principal must complete the recommendation/transcript forms. The applicant’s present school should return these forms to Bishop Feehan as soon as possible but not later than the deadline specified. Extra recommendation letters are not required.
Parish Recommendation Form
All applicants regardless of religious affiliation must submit the parish recommendation form with the application. The top portion of the form must be filled out an sent to Bishop Feehan. Bishop Feehan will mail this to your parish. Do not bring this form to your place of worship. Non-Catholics must fill out the form and provide Bishop Feehan with the address of your place of worship. If you do not have a place of worship, please note NONE. Although priority is given to applicants who have attended Catholic schools and/or religious education programs, Bishop Feehan will admit academically qualified applicants regardless of religious affiliation who are actively involved in their faith life.
Parent Essay
Parents must write a statement indicating why they would like their applicant to attend Bishop Feehan. Space is provided on the second page of the application form.
Interview
Every applicant is required to interview with Bishop Feehan. Applicants will be scheduled for an interview in January once their application has been submitted. Transfer applicants will be interviewed once their application is submitted.
Visits
Bishop Feehan hosts an Open House at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 18th. A formal program with tours is held. Beginning in January, an applicant may visit for a half day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, as long as an application has been filed. Parents should call the Admissions office to make arrangements.

Siblings
The fact that a qualified applicant has a sibling attending Bishop Feehan is a factor in acceptance but not a guarantee.
Legacy
The fact that a qualified applicant has a parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle or cousin who has graduated from Bishop Feehan is a factor in acceptance but not a guarantee.
Discipline
All applicants must present a discipline record to Bishop Feehan in their application from their current school.
Admittance
An applicant’s complete file will be reviewed by the admissions committee in mid-January. Transfers will be reviewed in May on a space available basis. Parents of 8th grade applicants will be notified by mail of acceptance, probationary status or non-acceptance of their student’s application by February 1st.
High School Transfer Statement
Bishop Feehan adheres to the MIAA Eligibility Rules for athletic participation.
Foreign Students
Any student applying to Bishop Feehan High School from another country must meet the following criteria before he/she may be considered for admission:
- Fluent in English
- Minimum score of 520 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), if applying from a country where English is not a primary language.
- Be able to meet appropriate immigration requirements. Bishop Feehan High School does not make accommodation arrangements for foreign students.
