Bishop Feehan Girls Lacrosse

March 31, 2009 - Bishop Feehan vs Bishop Stang Varsity Game

 Bishop Feehan - 6, Bishop Stang - 15

Junior Cori Semple, 2 goals. Cori also won 9 out of the 10 draws that she took. Sophomore Meghan Leavey, 1 goal, 1 assist. Meghan also won 4 out of the 5 draws she took. Junior Ashley Rainha, 1 goal. Ashley also won 3 out of the 6 draws that she took. Senior Jenna George, 1 goal. Junior Samantha Mason, 1 goal. Senior goalkeeper Jamie Coyne saved 9 out of the 21 shots on net. Senior goalkeeper Alanna Murphy saved 3 out of 6 shots on net.

This season opener was a bit of a disappointment for the Feehan girls as they competed against a team that had already had several games under their belt this year. In many ways, the teams were of equal strength. For example, both teams had 27 shots on net and both teams won possession after the draw 11 times each. Unfortunately for the Feehan girls, Stang was more successful at getting the ball in the net, scoring 15 out of 27. As the game wore on, Feehan got more comfortable on the field and refocused their efforts based on Stang's strengths and weaknesses. While the halftime score had Feehan down 2-12, the second half of the game went Feehan's way with the Feehan girls outscoring Stang 4-3. Feehan's defense, led by Michele Flannery, Meg Moran, and Allison Clemmey, held strong and were able to keep Stang's attack at bay.

Junior Varsity Game Bishop Feehan - 7, Bishop Stang - 6

Freshman Kelly Byrne, 2 goals, 2 assists. Sophomore Shelby Finan, 1 goal, 1 assist. Sophomore Delaney McHugo, 1 goal. Freshman Julie Skaff, 1 goal. Freshman Casey Birkdale, 1 goal. Freshman Rachel Pyne, 1 goal. Freshman Kerrin Gallagher, 1 assist.

The Junior Varsity game against Bishop Stang featured a lot of players new to the Bishop Feehan Lacrosse program. Also, Junior Giulia Concilio stood for the first time as goalkeeper for Feehan and saved 13 out of 19 shots, defending the team until the final seconds of the game in order for the shamrocks to bring home a win.

 April 1, 2009 - Bishop Feehan vs. Dover-Sherborn Varsity Game Bishop Feehan - 5, Dover-Sherborn - 18

Junior Cori Semple, 3 goals. Cori also won 14 out of the 15 draws she took. Junior Ashley Rainha, 1 goal, 1 assist. Junior Mary Anderson, 1 goal. Junior Samantha Mason, 1 goal.  Junior Allison Clemmey, 1 assist. Junior Maggie Ross, 1 assist. Senior goalkeeper Jamie Coyne, 21 saves.

The Bishop Feehan Varsity team led the game for the first several minutes of their match against Dover-Sherborn, taking a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, the elite members of the Dover-Sherborn squad rallied and Feehan soon fell behind, never to be out front again despite Cori Semple's performance winning the draws. Dover-Sherborn bested the Feehan players in possessions 14 to 10. Feehan had ample opportunities to score, but Dover-Sherborn's defensive squad and goalkeeper were too strong. Feehan also ran into trouble when two of its players received yellow cards within seconds of each other. As a result, Feehan was down two players on the field for 3 minutes of the game. Jamie Coyne's 21 saves in net was a highlight of the game for the Feehan girls, but it wasn't enough to stop the experienced Dover-Sherborn squad from racking up another win.

Junior Varsity Game Bishop Feehan - 3, Dover-Sherborn - 11

Freshman Ashley Sheehan, 1 goal. Freshman Kelly Byrne, 1 goal. Freshman Shelby Finan, 1 goal.

Injuries got the best of the Bishop Feehan Junior Varsity team in their match against Dover-Sherborn. Freshman Julie Skaff was out with an injury to her foot and freshman Kerrin Gallagher took a blow to the wrist early on in the game that kept her out for the remainder of the game. Dover-Sherborn kept the pressure on goalkeeper Giulia Concilio. Though Giula saved nearly 20 shots on net, her outstanding efforts were not enough to stop the Dover-Sherborn squad from winning the game.

Game #1  Seekonk vs. Feehan 4-1-09

Feehan opened its season with an 8-4 victory over visiting Seekonk. Junior Kelly Winters went the distance on the

respectfully. Sturdy also added 4 RBI's.

Game #2 Brockton vs. Feehan 4-2-09

On a rain soaked field, Feehan improved to 2-0 with a 5-3 win. The field conditions made for a muddy afternoon. Tied 3-3 in
the sixth, Feehan loaded the bases with no outs. Sophomore Tiffany Agostini's sacrifice fly plated the go-ahead run and a
throwing error pushed across the final run. Junior Kayla Holland picked up the victory with a solid effort on the mound.
Game #3  Durfee vs.  Feehan 4-5-09

Closer Tommy Romero closed out the ninth with a spotless inning of relief.
