1-13-09: WOW! What a boy's track meet tonight against Somerset. Not until the very last event the 4 X 400 did the Shamrocks lead in the meet. There were many who stepped it up for this key league meet. Junior Bobby McShane had key victories in the mile (4:36) and 1000m (2:42). Sophomore Sam Yoder placed 3rd in the 55m High Hurdles but it was his clearance of 5'10" in the HJ that was huge. Sophomore O'Bryan McHale, had a big long jump with a personal best of 20'3" and a key victory in the 55m dash. However, it was the 4 X 400 who ran out of their shoes to secure the win. Somerset's 4 X 400 had won this weekends Winter Festival meet with a time of 3:35.5 and with our 4 X 400's previous best time of 3:45, it wasn't looking too good. Junior Mark Legare stepped up to the plate with a great leadoff leg and the lead with a 56.4 split. Senior Dan White, who was very disappointed in his 600m run, ran a PR split of 54.5 and the surprising lead. Giving the stick to senior Ethan Loew (53.7), things were looking better. Junior Mike Albert showed true grit by running a PR 52.6 split to hold off the charging Somerset anchor leg to cap the 49-46 victory. The boy's run their record to 5-0. Our next meet is Thursday at Wheaton College at 3:30.
On the girls side, outstanding performances were put in by junior Jen Thomas in the mile with a time of 5:17, she was followed by junior Erin Murphy 5:36, freshman Erin Svensen 5:46 and freshman Katie Powell 5:47. Sophomore Haley Linehan had a personal best in the shot with a throw of 28'5.5". Trenna Schmidt had her best showing in the 55m hurdles in a first place time of 8.7 and Laura McNulty cleared a season best of 4'8"for the win in the high jump. The girls are also 5-0 on the season. Our next meet is Thursday at Wheaton College at 3:30.

1-9 + 10-09: Members of the boys and girls track team travelled to Hanover N.H. to compete in the 40th Dartmouth Invitional. On Friday night the boy's distance medley relay with a team consisting of Dave Phipps (1200 m 3:29), Mike Albert (400m 52.8), Ethan Loew (800m 2:07), and Bobby McShane (1600m 4:34) placed 7th with a time of 11:05. The girls sprint medley team consisting of Hannah Cote (200m 27.4), Elaine Martin (200m 27.2), Janelle McNeil (400m 62.5) and Jen Thomas (800m 2:19.3) finished an impressive 4th.
On Saturday Morning Bobby McShane won the unseeded mile run with a 4:35.7, Anisa Arsenault and Erin Murphy went 1-2 in the unseeded 2 mile with times of 11:46.3 and 11:50.2 respectively. The good news for Jen Thomas in the seeded section of the 1000 m run was that she set a new meet record for that event, however two other runners would finish in front of Jenn, it was however, and impressive run.
1-9-09: The boy’s basketball team had an exciting victory over league rival Coyle & Cassidy on Friday night. Up by 10 at half time, the Shamrocks found themselves down by 7 with 1:52 on the clock. With a sense of urgency and athleticism, the 'rocks' went on a 13-0 swing and won the game by 6. That's Awesome!!!

12-22-08: The girls basketball team lost a heart breaker tonight against the Hilltoppers from Durfee. The final score was 65-63. Kate Hill and Jenna Roncarati led the way for the Shamrocks, yet it was the 7 three points by a Ms. Plaski from Durfee that made the difference. To add salt to the wound, the Shamrocks found out today that they will probably have to play the rest of the season without their star player, Amy Lepley. An ACL injury may sideline her for the remainder of the year.
12-22-08: The boys basketball team won an exciting double overtime victory over cross town rival Attleboro on Monday night. Ryan Sheehan in his debut with the varsity team lead all scorers with 27 points going 9 9-12 27. The boys get not rest as they travel to Fall River tonight to face a tough Durfee team.
12-22-08: The girls basketball team may have won the game big by a 67-37 score, but may have lost Amy Lepley for a few games. With 2:13 left in the first quarter Lepley went down on a drive to the basket. The girls responded well, especially Jenna Roncarati who lead all scorers with 17 points. The girls will host the HIlltoppers of Durfee tonight.
