Overview
Sanctity, Scholarship and Sportsmanship, the three leaves of the Shamrock, are the guiding principles for life at Bishop Feehan High School. Feehan takes a holistic view of education, to include nurturing the spiritual, physical, intellectual, and artistic gifts each student. Feehan believes that each young adult is a gift from God and helping that young adult discover his/her gifts and talents will enable them to develop into the person that God has planned them to be.
Feehan was founded to form a partnership with the families of the greater Attleboro area in educating young adults in the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church. Our Catholic tradition is the integrating point of our religious, academic and social lives. The Sisters of Mercy staffed our school from its inception and brought the Charism of Catherine McAuley to Feehan and future generations. Mother McAuley spoke of excellence, mercy and hospitality to all, and we have maintained this connection to our past along with its traditions. The rigorous curriculum, community service and campus ministry programs as well as co-curricular and athletic offerings focus on educating young adults about mercy, integrity, and compassion. Feehan accomplishes this development by creating a sense of community which nurtures and cares for individuals thus creating the "Feehan Family." Furthermore, Feehan students are involved in community service programs throughout the Attleboro area. Feehan graduates young adults to lead lives of commitment to the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and to their church; to meet the challenges of lifelong learning; and to be an influence for good in their communities.
As a college preparatory school, Feehan offers a broad array of courses designed to give students a solid foundation for lifelong learning. The four-year curriculum is fortified by both Honors and Advanced Placement courses and tailored to instill intellectual curiosity and a keen world view consistent with the Catholic tradition. Co-curricular activities and athletics provide a significant venue for students to pursue their own interests outside of the classroom. The development of one's talents in the arts, on the court or field, or simply sharing knowledge or interests with others is an important part of the high school experience. Through participation in activities and athletics, students have the opportunity to form meaningful and lasting friendships and to further their journey of becoming young adults who reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ. Through our curriculum, dynamic Campus Ministry, community service program and a supportive and comprehensive counseling program, students are afforded several venues through which he/she can grow spiritually and personally at a deeper level. The life of our school gives witness to the Catherine McAuley's vision of excellence in education and a community committed to mercy, justice, and love.
As the Vice Principal for Student Life, I have the opportunity to work with the entire school community in promoting the development of the whole self. In my role, I work closely with all the student organizations, activities and programs that take place outside of the classroom. It is my goal that each young adult graduates from Feehan having a sense of who he/she is, what potential he/she has, and how to engage his/her talents in fulfilling God's plan.
