World Language Department Chairperson

Job Description

The Department Chairperson works closely with the Vice Principal of Academics in the area of curriculum development and instructional supervision, and serves as the primary liaison between the administration and the department.  An important responsibility of the Department Chairperson is to model effective instructional and classroom management practices for the members of the department while serving as a catalyst for continuous individual and department growth and improvement. The position of department chairperson is an administrative appointment and holds an ex-officio seat on the Academic Board. The Department Chairperson reports directly to and is evaluated by the Vice Principal of Academics. The Department Chairperson is expected to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents.

Assistant Director of Advancement

Job Description

INTRODUCTION
Bishop Feehan’s Advancement Office is looking for a creative, motivated, and energetic professional to help continue its growth. Our next Assistant Director of Advancement will report to our Director of Advancement and will focus on two primary areas – engaging our alumni to become more active members of our Feehan Family, and creating strategy and managing execution of Advancement Office events, particularly our three highest-profile gatherings. These areas are pillars to facilitate members of our school community – parents, alumni, and friends -  to help our students and faculty have a diverse, dynamic, and high-quality Catholic education rooted in our faith and values. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Director of Advancement will:

  • Expand and manage a Class Agent program that will cultivate interested alumni to serve as peer leaders within the Feehan alumni community
  • Actively engage with alumni, particularly by leveraging Facebook , LinkedIn and social media to re-engage graduates and promote social events and giving opportunities
  • Co-lead the planning committee for Feehan’s annual Setting Our Hearts Gala, the community’s largest single-night fundraising event of the year
  • Collaborate with the Director of Advancement and President to launch and manage our multi-class, on-campus reunion model, which will debut at Feehan in September 2017
  • Oversee a to-be-determined segment of Feehan’s Shamrock Fund, its primary vehicle for annual, unrestricted giving to the school
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications on messaging to Feehan alumni through direct mailings, electronic mailings, social media, and the Bishop Feehan Web site
  • Collaborate with the Director of Advancement to create further opportunities for Feehan alumni to connect with the school on an individual, small-group, and large-group basis
  • Collaborate with school administrators to manage an annual spring event that recognizes and honors alumni for their professional achievement, personal character, and/or service to Feehan
  • Collaborate with the Director of Advancement Services to lead other events, including Grandparents Day, a volunteer recognition event, and Graduation Week activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in all aspects of event planning, including but not limited to: marketing, sponsorship solicitation, budgeting, programming, operations, and volunteer management 
  • Leadership experience in a collegiate, professional, or community setting
  • Ability to add value to Feehan’s high-performing Advancement team
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data to educate decision making
  • Experience with or knowledge of Blackbaud and Raiser’s Edge platforms is preferred
  • Flexibility for occasional night and weekend hours and a desire to pitch in wherever needed for the overall success of team and school goals.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

 

To ensure that all Feehan publications, marketing materials, website, press releases, and other communications properly support and reflect our strategic mission and goals – advancement, student recruitment, alumni and parent relations, and public relations – essential to sustaining the school’s competitive position and long-term strength.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Coordinate all communications efforts for the school and its departments.

 

  • Responsible for maintaining and strengthening the school's overall brand by enforcing visual and written guidelines across all school communications and branded merchandise;

 

  • Drive overall digital/web marketing efforts, including paid search, search engine optimization, appropriate social media channels (Facebook and Twitter currently prominent) and email marketing;

 

  • Attend school events and classes and take photos for the website and school publications;

 

  • Work collaboratively with other departments and advise on publications to ensure they reflect institutional messages and objectives;

 

  • Create a comprehensive public relations strategy to best market the school to its external constituencies – including prospective students and families, community, and alumni.  Responsibilities include distributing quarterly honor roll to newspapers;

 

  • Responsible for the school’s public relations efforts by creating press releases and feature articles for the media.  Establish and maintain good relations with all media, as well as local community groups;

 

  • Publisher and editor of website, acting as content manager for the site.  Responsible for webpage content being dynamic and vibrant, as well as maintaining consistency throughout the website and its content;

 

  • Responsible for the planning, writing, design, and production of Feehan’s Cornerstone Magazine two times per year (Fall/Winter and Spring), and the Annual Report of Gifts (part of the Fall/Winter magazine), including the coordination of vendors for printing and graphic design work;

 

  • Work with the director of admissions to help develop a comprehensive marketing campaign, including the use of the website, printed materials, and emerging social media outlets;

 

  • Layout and design display advertising for use in newspapers and community organization program books;

 

  • Establish a visual and textual “standards” book for usage in external communications and ensure compliance. Establish similar guidelines for all internal communications (facsimiles, memos, etc.) and ensure compliance. This includes our mission, profile statements, and the school logo;

 

  • Collect news clippings involving Feehan alumni and students. Monitor and track effectiveness of press release efforts.

 

  • Provide photography for school events, publications, and activities, as well as stock photography.  Assist in the planning/staffing of major events.  Coordinate with the school photographer on their presence at school and advancement events;

 

  • Consult with other Advancement team members, as well as members of other departments on campus, on visual layout and design of publications. Design, layout, and produce various print projects throughout the year, including brochures, reports, programs, posters, invitations, signage, etc.

 

  • Work with other members of the advancement department to maintain a consistent visual "look and feel" for collateral materials to all events, from invitations through the events themselves;

 

  • Be a flexible, collaborative member of the overall Advancement team, working towards the office’s and the school’s shared goals.

 

  • Assist the President and Director of Advancement in other areas as requested/required.

 

Occasional night and weekend work required.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication, analytical and computer skills and the ability to handle tasks simultaneously, as well as strong people skills.  Experience in a marketing, communications and/or design environment required. Design talent not required (though recognition of such and an ability to work well with design projects are) but personal desktop design abilities are a plus qualification.

Bishop Feehan High School seeks an experienced Learning Center paraprofessional to run our Academic Resource Center. The A.R.C. provides instruction in strategies and routines for students that can be generalized across settings and situations. Pay is competitive.

Experience required in helping students with study and organizational skills, note taking, goal setting, writing skills, and other academic strategies.

Must have High School diploma or equivalent, AND an associate’s degree or higher, State certified teacher or paraprofessional preferred, experience and be able to support the mission of a diocesan Catholic high school.
