Elmer W. Greatrex was a lifelong resident of Eastern Massachusetts who made his living in the printing trade business who spent his later year in Foxbough. Although he was not able to attend college himself, he cherished the idea that he could help others continue their education beyond high school. In his will he left a generous bequest to create The Greatrex Scholarship Fund.
Applicants must reside in Foxboro.
The Greatrex Fund of The Boston Foundation is now accepting applications through April 5.

AFA Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness College Scholarship Essay Contest
AFA’s Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness College Scholarship Essay Contest is an annual competition for college-bound high school seniors.
Applicants are asked to write a 1,200 to 1,500-word essay that describes the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on themselves, their families or their communities, and what they have learned in light of coping with the brain disorder.
The grand prize winner receives $5,000, with additional prizes awarded for runners up.

WYBSA (Wrentham Youth Baseball and Softball Association) offers $500 scholarships to young men and women who have played WYBSA baseball or softball.
Recipients should provide an essay describing their WYBSA memories and lessons they learned while playing in WYBSA. They also need to provide a high school transcript and a list of extracurricular/volunteer activities including those which specifically were in support of WYBSA.
