Health and Fitness

Health and Fitness is required for graduation and is offered to students in Grade 10. This program focuses on teaching students to assume responsibility for their own personal health and lifestyle. Students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve a high level of well-being throughout their lifetime.
 
The Health component of the course encompasses Adolescent health issues such as: The Addiction process, Alcohol Poisoning, Drug use, Nutrition, Eating Disorders, Infectious Disease, Stress Management, Importance of Sleep, and Lures. Students will also become certified in CPR.
 
The Fitness component of the course encompasses basic skills, strategies, and rules of Lifetime Sports and Activities such as: Badminton, Frisbee, Golf, Tennis, Volleyball, Pickle Ball, Yoga, Fitness Ball exercises, and Weight training. Students will be able to identify and assess components of Physical Fitness, and develop a Personal Fitness program.
