The Bishop Feehan High School Music Department is proud to announce that 11 students have been recognized by the Southeastern District of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) as Senior District Festival and Junior District Festival participants. Two of the Senior Districts Festival participants have also received All-State recommendations. As part of the district audition process, students are expected to individually perform an assigned piece of music as well as sight-read and/or perform several scales on their instrument. Students with high enough scores are then accepted into Chorus, Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band or Percussion ensembles. Students who participate in either festival represent the top musicians in the Southeastern region of Massachusetts. The Festival takes place over 2 days, featuring guest conductors and challenging, collegiate-level music literature. In addition, a small percentage of District participants are given a recommendation to audition for the All-State Festival. These students will audition in January and if chosen, will have the opportunity to perform at Symphony Hall in March, along with other students from around the state.
The Senior District Festival will take place at Bourne High School January 5-6, 2018 and the Junior District Festival will take place March 16-17, 2018 at Taunton High School.
