Camp Curriculum
- Introduction to Stop Motion
- Children will explore the fundamentals of stop motion animation, learning the basics of frame sequencing and capturing movements to create their own stories in a scale that is attainable within our camp structure.
- Storyboarding
- Through interactive sessions, participants will explore storytelling techniques and translate their ideas into visual narratives using storyboards, helping them plan their animation projects effectively.
- Set Design with Legos
- Campers will unleash their creativity by constructing unique sets using Legos, fostering their spatial awareness and design thinking while creating vibrant backgrounds for their animations.
- Other materials will also be available to support the set design and construction.
- Animation Creation
- Campers will bring their stories to life, learning stop motion techniques, editing, and adding sound effects to their animations.
- Animation Showcase (Thursday 10 AM -12 noon)
- Campers to share their works with fellow campers, and family members on the final day of camp.
Camp Objectives
- Creativity: Encouraging students to think outside the norm, fostering creativity and originality.
- Collaborative Learning: Emphasizing teamwork and communication while students share their visions, feedback, and learning.
- Technical Skills: Introducing students to beginner level technology and software used in animation, and teaching them how they can use it in storytelling.
- Confidence Boost: Empowering students to express themselves through art and storytelling, and share that expression with other creative minds who appreciate it
What to Bring
Nut free snack, water bottle; after the first day there might be a character, toy, artwork the camper wants to use in their animation and therefore the item may be brought from home with parent/guardian permission.
What to Wear
Comfortable clothes, closed toed shoes
