Principal Mr. Sean Kane shared the following with our student body this morning:
"Last night, we were shocked and saddened to learn the news that Mr. Joe Taylor, our longtime former band director, had passed away unexpectedly from cancer. Mr. Taylor served our school for over thirty years, leading generations of students with passion, talent, and care — especially through the marching band program he helped build into a tradition of excellence.
Even in retirement, Mr. Taylor remained a familiar face, continuing to substitute teach and support our community just weeks ago. Lifelong, dedicated educators like Mr. Taylor become the pillars of a school — the legends shaping its spirit, strengthening its traditions, and leaving lasting marks on students, families, and colleagues alike.
Today during X period, the scheduled Spanish Mass in the Chapel was said for the repose of Mr. Taylor’s soul, and was said in English.
We ask that you keep his family and all who loved him in your prayers. May he rest in peace."
Mr. Taylor began his career at Feehan in 1982 and served as band director and in our music department until his retirement just last spring (with just a few years off staff in the middle years). His beloved wife, Helen Taylor — who passed in 2019 — served with Mr. Taylor as our color guard moderator, forming an unmatched team in talent and warm spirit.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, May 4th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
