The Passing of Señora Joan Drobnis

Please join us in prayer for the repose of the soul of Señora Joan Drobnis, an exceptional Feehan teacher, mentor and friend for more than 40 years. Mrs. Drobnis passed away this past Sunday, leaving her beloved husband Bruce, son Adam and daughter-in-law Samantha. Mrs. Drobnis was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first grandchild in coming weeks.

Her complete, beautiful obituary can be found here: LINK.

Señora taught at Feehan for 41 years before her retirement in 2020. The professionJoan Drobnisal descriptors are many: long-time world language department stalwart, talented and passionate teacher, moderator of the award-winning Spanish National Honor Society (re-named the "Joan Drobnis Chapter" in 2020), founder of the long-running and still-running Amigos program, and travel guide and organizer for dozens and dozens of summer trips abroad over decades. In 2002, Joan was named teacher of the year by both the City of Attleboro and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The personal descriptors are more simple: proud wife and mom, generous friend, person of deep faith, connector extraordinaire and Feehan legend. It seemed a week didn't go by without Joan reporting about a lunch, phone call or zoom with a beloved former student.

Señora received Feehan's highest honor, the Patricia M. Harrington, RSM Hero of Catholic Education Award in 2023. Her legacy of teaching excellence, subject-matter passion and expertise in connecting with and serving her students will never be forgotten here.

Aleha HaShalom, Señora.
