Summer Programs at Colleges

The Institute is a summer journalism program for up to 84 rising high school seniors conducted on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston, Illinois.  Students learn from accomplished journalists and university professors while gaining practical experience in the field. By the end of the program, students create a body of work, build connections and meet aspiring journalists from around the world.

Each Summer, The Catholic University of America hosts an intensive program for serious theatre students for three weeks in July. Students choose to major in Drama/Acting or Musical Theatre. This pre-college experience allows students to live, study, and strengthen their theatrical skills through hard work with like-minded students, while exploring the vibrant Washington, D.C. Theatre scene. This summer’s dates are July 7 - 25, 2025.

Whether on-campus or online, you’ll participate in courses led by  reputable teaching artists. Learn to manage time and self-motivate, and develop concepts, sketches and finished pieces. Leave with a portfolio that can be an asset in your college application.

The Black College Institute is an academic summer enrichment program by Virginia Tech. It hosts talented, high-achieving and academically curious rising high school juniors and seniors. For 2025, all three sessions will be held in-person over a 3-day period for rising juniors and for rising seniors. While this program is designed to attract underrepresented and/or first-generation students, we welcome the participation of any student who has a potential interest in Virginia Tech. Our program activities are planned using a multicultural perspective though we place special emphasis on the African-American identity.

For over fifteen years, Marist has created a Summer Pre-College program that gives students a sense of college life, provides a taste of a college major, and allows students to earn college credit all while still in high school. With more than 20 unique courses, this summer's sessions will take place over two weeks, with start dates of June 29, 2025, and July 13, 2025.

The Edge summer college program at the University of Delaware offers opportunities to engaged and talented high school sophomores and juniors by preparing them for a future as a successful college student. During the summer, you will take 1-2 college level courses of your choice for up to 6 transferable credits; participate in college readiness workshops; engage with UD undergrad students, and more.
