Creative Writing Camp

NEW for 2024!

Camp Format

Each day will focus on a different mode of creative writing, and students will be given time in the last hour to work on a week-long project of their choice. At the end of the week, students can choose to publish on the camp website. 

Camp Objectives

 Students will learn, practice, and maintain:

  • Creative Expression through language
  • Knowledge of literary genres, including but not limited to poetry, short stories, and personal narrative
  • Use of creative techniques such as imagery, tone, point of view, metaphor, and author’s purpose
  • Methods of inspiration
  • Goal setting and follow through

What to Bring

  • Creativity and an open mind
  • A notebook 
  • Writing utensils of the students’ choice
  • A laptop or tablet with access to google docs
  • A water bottle

What to Wear

  • Comfortable clothing for inside or outside
  • A hat or sunblock for if we go outside

Camp Staff

Ms. Kerrin Willis -- Ms. Willis has taught English and Writing in the Diocese of Fall River for fourteen years, and has loved (almost)  every second of it. Ms. Willis has a BA in English from Stonehill College, an MA in English from Simmons University, and is currently completing her MFA in Fiction Writing from SNHU. She is a published author of two historical fiction novels, and is working concurrently on her next two books, publication dates TBA.  Ms. Willis loves reading books, writing books, and smelling books, and is passionate about sharing that love with others.
